About the history of team Viny

Our mission

Our mission is through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, to encourage people to build up discipline, becoming fighters on and off the mat. This means fighting to achieve our goals, and never giving up. If we lose, learn, and be resilient. If we win, be humble and train even harder to achieve something else. Motivation in life is in its challenges, there is nothing better than conquering with the honor of your own effort, and we at Checkmat Zurich / Team Viny BJJ value it all.

What is brazilian jiu-jitsu about?

What makes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu so unique is not only the sophisticated technique that is used, but also the reality-based training method. BJJ is based on "sweeps", "take downs" and "submissions" which allow anyone to take a stronger opponent to the ground. This provides a very interesting dynamic that anyone can learn. Hardly any other martial art allows participants to train with 100% resistance without hurting the training partner. The friendly and pleasant interaction in BJJ makes it unique among other sports of this kind. That is why it is practiced all over the world by children, women and men, of all ages.
